Honduras - The Uncut Diamond Of Central America

Honduras is located in the heart of Central America. It’s bordered to the west by Guatemala, to the southwest by El Salvador, to the south by the Pacific Ocean, to the southeast by Nicaragua and to the north by the Caribbean Sea.

The topography of the country is marked by an extensive interior mountainous area with fertile plateaus and river valleys, and the Caribbean and Pacific lowlands. On more than 800 km of Caribbean coast you can find isolated, pristine beaches, indigenous Garífuna communities, banana and pineapple plantations and colorful port-cities.

The Bay Islands (Roatan, Utila, Guanaja and the Cayos Cochinos) are located in the Caribbean Sea and welcome their visitors with pristine white sandy beaches, beautiful living coral reefs, clear turquoise waters, an abundant undersea life and lush green vegetation.

Honduras is a fascinating country and home to a charming mixture of cultures. The different ethnic groups compromise the mestizo, people of mixed native and European ascent, the Anglo-African Caribbean and the Garífuna.

The rich historical and colonial heritage, the amazing Mayan sites in the western part of the country and its villages full of traditions make Honduras one of the most attractive countries of Central America.

The Mosquitia, situated in the eastern part of the country and in Nicaragua, is a large region with one of the last great tracts of primary forest. Also known as the Amazon of Central America, it is home to a diverse ecosystem and a high concentration of species of fauna and flora. You can observe macaws, toucans, ocelots, jaguars, pumas, manatees and giant sea turtles and hundreds of different species of plants and flowers such as breadfruit trees, pines, orchids and  bromeliads.

Honduras is a vibrant country, with a colorful history, fascinating ancient ruins, breathtaking mountains, abundant jungles, white sandy beaches, crystal waters, varied landscapes and a friendly charming population.
